A Filmmaker with an Artistic Vision
Manoj Maurya, a Banaras-born filmmaker, combines unconventional visuals and radical techniques in his storytelling. With a background in Fine Arts, Psychology, and Advertising, his creative journey is diverse. His debut feature, The Concertmaster (German),was showcased at the 2024 Berlin Liftoff Film Festival, while The Icecake won Best Feature at the 2023 MotoTematica Film Festival in Rome. A celebrated painter, his works have been displayed in galleries across Mumbai, New York, and Delhi.
Manoj's social consciousness is evident in his work, including his contributions to plays like Moirang Thoibi and Andha Yug, where he explored human complexity through live paintings in darkness.
Moh-Maya tackles the societal pressures on women tied to virginity and marriage, revealing the emotional traps set by patriarchal beliefs. The film calls for mutual respect and understanding in relationships.
Initially conceived as a feature, Manoj's team chose a short film format for Moh-Maya to deliver its message powerfully, with plans for a full-length version later. The film stands out with its immersive visual storytelling, complemented by a beautiful soundtrack composed by Rohit Sharma, lyrics by Dr. Sagar, and vocals by Priya Mallick.
The cast includes Ulka Gupta as Maya, Ansh Pandey as Moh, and Aniket Indoriya as Mohan Singh Rathore, with performances grounded in the Stanislavski method, bringing depth to the film's emotional essence.
Producer Abhishek Sharrma's Vision
Abhishek Sharrma, a seasoned producer, began as a Production Manager and has since taken on roles like Executive Producer. Through his company, Shubham Cine World, he champions impactful films, with Moh-Maya as his latest success.
Abhishek was immediately drawn to the unique subject matter of Moh-Maya and its emotional depth. He plans to take the film to global film festivals and is also producing Desi Baraat, a vibrant Rajasthan-set film. Focused on creating emotionally rich narratives, Abhishek is exploring digital and OTT platforms to push storytelling boundaries with both emerging and established directors.
