"If you want to be my friend, get me a packet of boondi ladoo," laughs Bipasha Basu. The sexy siren, who's looking hotter than ever and gearing up for another fitness DVD for which she starts shooting in October, talks about her fitness mantra:
Fit hai
I'm extremely happy with the response I got for my DVD, especially from rural India and smaller towns. Currently my fitness mantra is, 'Love yourself.' Accept everything about yourself and be confident in everything that you do. Give yourself 25-90 minutes daily for being healthy and you'll notice that it brings a better focus and discipline to everything in life. Looking good is just the bonus.
All in fun
I'm a very active person and follow a 60-day routine that varies between spinning, cardio and weight training. We need to be aware of what workout we are practising and have complete faith in the trainer who's helping you. Even a 25 minute of scientific workout ufffd a mix of cardio, abs and resistance training ufffd can help you in the long run. In fact, you'll be able to burn calories even 48 hours after the workout. I want to enjoy life with all the money I save and travel the world. I want to have fun when I grow old. I don't want to be riddled with illness.
Vice-free
Another myth is that healthy eating means saying good-bye to things that you love. Eating right gives you higher levels of energy and keeps you healthy in the long run. There has to be a balance of proteins, fibre, carbohydrates, vitamins in your diet. I'm not too rigid with my diet, but yes, I eat six small meals with lots of salads and fruits. You cannot strike off something you love from your diet completely; it has to happen slowly with reduction in portions. I do have a sweet tooth. I totally love fish and Indian sweets. I love to nibble on gud ka rasgulla, boondi ladoo, jalebi and Bengali sweets once in a week.
Two good
My partner has been into fitness much longer than me; but more importantly, John (Abraham) has been a sportsperson in his early years. I regret that I didn't pursue any sport in my childhood. I came into fitness on my own, but now that we both understand what and why we do things, it has become a natural way of life. Even if we didn't have the pressure of our profession, we'd still follow a healthy lifestyle!
