Singer Suraj Jagan has found his place under the sun after the hit track Give Me Some Sunshine from 3 Idiots. The rock musician, who sang Jaa Chudail from Delhi Belly recently, talks to CS about rock music in India:
Shining bright
Well, Give Me Some Sunshine definitely changed my life. It not only connected me with Bollywood, but also with the Indian youth. I have been doing rock versions of Hindi songs since 2000. So it's heartening to see rock songs like Jaa Chudail and Dhunki doing well. Rock music in India used to be like an orphaned child, but now it's finally being accepted.u00a0u00a0
High spirits
Rock music is all about freedom. It certainly sets me free, and I have seen the same thing happening to the audiences. It has an energy that needs to be experienced live. I started listening to music when I was a little kid. In those days, it was Beatles, Bee Gees, Elton John, etc. Then came Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, Whitesnake, Faith No More, Soundgarden, Pantera and R D Burman.
