A series of production houses have shifted base to shoot upcoming popular films after Delhi has shown its expensive side. Makers have to shell out lakhs to shoot at prominent locations in the national capital such as metro stations or the international airport.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, "If you want to shoot at Rajiv Chowk for 4 hours, it means eight lakh rupees for the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. GST ki baat agar nahi bhi karte, â¹2,36,000 will be taken by New Delhi Municipal Council, a lakh rupees will be taken by the parking guys. Around two lakh rupees by the Delhi Police for security. You can do the maths," said a production head.
Among those who have faced the brunt is Aamir Khan-led âSitare Zameen Par' which has cut its shoot schedule which was originally planned for a longer duration. "The earlier plan was very long, but now it has been shortened. Instead of a month, now it will be shot in Delhi only for 8-10 days, around July," states the report.
Khan and Darsheel Safary, who co-starred in 'Taare Zameen Par', have reunited for the project after 16 years. Genelia will reportedly play a pivotal role in the film.

Janhvi Kapoor's âUlajh' was also to be shot in Delhi for 12-13 days but since they spent a larger portion of their budget in London, they didn't have much to shoot back home and hence shifted to Bhopal.
In the film, Jahnvi is shown determined to seek revenge against those who betrayed her and her country. Directed by National Award winner Sudhanshu Saria, the patriotic thriller film also stars Gulshan Devaiah and Roshan Mathew. The project follows the journey of a young IFS officer, belonging to a prominent family of patriots, who gets embroiled in a dangerous personal conspiracy while far from her home turf, at a career-defining post.
Besides the two, Ajay Devgn's âRaid 2' has also opted out and will reportedly recreate the national capital in Lucknow. The film will have Vaani Kapoor, and show Riteish Deshmukh as the villain. 'Raid 2' will be released theatrically on November 15, 2024.
