Bengali actor Tota Roy Choudhury is making headlines for all the right reasons. He played the role of a Kathak dancer and Alia Bhatt's father in Karan Johar's recently released family entertainer, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. While the actor has done several films in the Bengali film industry, he isn't unknown to the television audience. For fans of the popular Hindi daily soap Anupamaa, did you know Tota played Gaurav Khanna's character Anuj in the original Bengali version, Sreemoyi?
Tota played the role of Rohit Sen opposite Indrani Haldar, who popularly essayed the titular role. He was her college love who came to her support after her husband Anindya left her to marry his girlfriend June. Sreemoyi premiered on June 10, 2019. After a successful two-and-a-half years run, it ended on December 19, 2021.
Sreemoyi got a Hindi version titled Anupamaa on July 13, 2020. Rupali Ganguly stars in the titular role with Gaurav playing the role of Anuj, her second husband. Sudhanshu Pandey is seen as Anupama's ex-husband Vanraj Shah. Madalsa Sharma plays Kavya, who is Vanraj's second wife. Anupamaa is one of the most-watched Indian shows at present.

Born as Pushparag Roy Choudhury, Tota's notable roles in the Bengali film industry include Feluda in the web TV series Feluda Pherot based on Satyajit Ray's Feluda series. He started his acting career with the Bengali film Duranta Prem. However, his breakthrough came with Rituparno Ghosh's National Award-winning Bengali film Chokher Bali.
While he is popular in Bengali cinema, Tota has acted in several Hindi language films before Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. He starred in Sujoy Ghosh's short film Ahalya with Soumitra Chatterjee and Radhika Apte. He went on to play an important role in Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh which was also directed by Sujoy. His second Hindi film was Madhur Bhandarkar's Indu Sarkar in 2017. He starred with Kajol in Helicopter Eela followed by a cameo in Parineeti Chopra's The Girl on the Train.
Currently, he is basking in praise for his performance in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Tota's Kathak dance to Dola Re Dola with Ranveer received special appreciation.
