Filmmaker Aanand L Rai's mother passed away today on September 8 in Mumbai.

T-Series honcho Bhushan Kumar also paid his last respects to the filmmaker's mother.
Earlier today, Akshay Kumar also announced the passing away of his mother. She was critical and admitted to the ICU, and the actor, who was shooting for a film in the U.K., flew back to Mumbai to be with her. Professionally, Rai and Kumar are collaborating for two films, 'Raksha Bandhan', and 'Atrangi Re'.
'Raksha Bandhan' is jointly written by Rai's frequent collaborator Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon. It stars Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles and revolves around the love, bonding and attachment between a brother and his sisters.
