Who will play Dada?

On Thursday, Luv Ranjan announced a biopic on Sourav Ganguly and put a full stop to the speculation about recreating the sports icon's life on screen. Dada's fans began the casting process as soon as the filmmaker and the former India cricket captain shared the news on social media. Many wondered if Ranjan would rope in Ranbir Kapoor as he is also collaborating with him on an untitled rom-com. Ganguly is reportedly keen on him. Last year, on Neha Dhupia's chat show, No Filter Neha, Dada had said that if Hrithik Roshan is under consideration, he would have "to work on getting a lean body like him." A section of netizens suggested Scam 1992 actor Pratik Gandhi and Vicky Kaushal. Others wondered if Rajan would rope in Kartik Aaryan as he has worked with him in the Pyaar Ka Punchnama franchise. Though there were several suggestions, RK emerged as the top choice.

Life goes on, says Akshay

Akshay Kumar, who lost mother Aruna a day before his 54th birthday on Thursday, thanked everyone for their condolences and good wishes. He posted, "Would have never liked it this way, but I am sure mom is singing happy birthday to me from up there." The actor added, "Life goes on."

Family role

Supriya Pathak's next digital outing, Tabbar, sees her as the quintessential middle-class woman, Sargun. "Her life begins and ends with caring for the family. It also interweaves the relationship she shares with her husband and sons. I can relate with her emotions as a mother," says the veteran actor. The SonyLIV show, helmed by Ajit Pal Singh, also features Pavan Malhotra and Kanwaljit Singh. "Tabbar will engage the audience with its thrilling narrative," adds Pathak.

Shah Rukh Khan is keen to take dancing classes from mother-in-law Savita Chibber. On Wednesday, she turned a year older. It appears that she burnt the dance floor when Boney M's chartbuster, Daddy cool, was played. Daughter Gauri shared a glimpse of her moves in a video and wrote, "Mummy cool." Fans hoped to see SRK match steps with her next.

Yeh hai Asha at 88

Shraddha Kapoor wished Asha Bhosle on her 88th birthday on Wednesday by posting a picture from a family get-together. "Happy birthday dearest Asha aai," the actor captioned the photo in which parents, Shakti Kapoor and Shivangi Kolhapure, and brother Siddhanth are seen. Kapoor's maternal grandfather, Pandit Pandharinath Kolhapure, is Bhosle's cousin. There's another celebration later this month. Lata Mangeshkar turns 92 on September 28.

It's parody time

Raveena Tandon Thadani does not know how to face Dilwale (1994) co-stars Ajay Devgn and Suniel Shetty. As a guest on the Zee Comedy Show, Ravs laughed the loudest when the participants, including Chitrashi Rawat, Mubeen Saudagar and Gaurav Dubey, mimicked Devgn and Shetty's characters in Harry Baweja's film. She wonders what they will think after seeing the show. "Now, I will start laughing whenever I meet them. The timing of the artistes was bang on," she adds.

Ready for politics

It had to happen sooner or later. Kangana Ranaut is ready to take the political plunge. At an event for Thalaivii in New Delhi, the actor said she would just like the protagonist (Jayalalithaa) of her film had done. "After working in the movie and doing research, I realised that politics is not easy, and there are several challenges," Kangy quipped. But she is ready to take them head-on.

Priyanka's Matrix look

Priyanka Chopra Jonas makes a brief appearance in the trailer of the Keanu Reeves-starrer The Matrix Resurrections, which dropped on Thursday. Her bespectacled character is seen mysteriously smiling at Neo (Reeves). "So, here I am… a small, excited little fish in the huge cinematic pond that is The Matrix," PeeCee wrote while sharing the first look.

Sapna Sikarwar joins Happu Ki Ultan Paltan to play Beni's (Vishwanath Chatterjee) girlfriend Bimlesh in the comedy. Sikarwar, earlier seen on Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, is known for her comic timing. "All this while Bimlesh and Beni were in a long-distance relationship. The audience could only hear Bimlesh's voice, and now they can see her too," says Sikarwar.
