Kareena Kapoor Khan recently made her OTT debut with the thriller flick, Jaane Jaan, directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The film required the Bollywood diva to go de-glam as a single mother living in Kalimpong. She also had talented actors like Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma as co-stars.
The 43-year-old actress was the guest on the most recent episode of Mid-day's print and podcast series, Sit With Hitlist, where she spoke about the difference between starring in mainstream masala movies with stars like Salman Khan and working in author-backed films like Jaane Jaan.
Difference in working between a Salman Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat
Kareena described, "Salman always relies on his persona, his personality, his super-duper stardom. He is confident to another level. It's not like he is not aware. It might seem like he is not listening or sleeping, but he is listening to everything. He is sharp as a knife. Whereas Jaideep is sincere, he is constantly thinking about his character. Even when he is on set, he is a little quietâ¦"

Playing Maya was a challenge for Kareena, and she is looking forward to taking on more such challenges. "I want that challenge. I want to dig deeper, dive a little deeper. I don't want to do stardom anymore. I want to do what I want to do. I want to get into that character, get into that role, that's why Jaane Jaan, Buckingham Murdersâ¦"
How did Buckingham Murders happen?
"Hansal (Mehta) sent me a 25-pager. I wasn't finding anything interesting at that time, maybe I was just bored. So, I just downloaded it and I was like abhi dekhte hai yeh kya hoga kind of wala you knowâ¦It was a mother and it was a detective and I had not done that. I read that 25-pager and I went crazy. And I was like I will do whatever it takes even if I have to produce this movie, or do whatever, but I am going to do it. I produced it with Hansal and Ekta (Kapoor). And it has got selected at the British Film Festival. It's an English film, its 80% English and 20% Hindi. So, it's different. That is what I am saying, that I don't want to do stardom anymore," Kareena explained.
