Darshan Raval
Darshan Raval has just released the romantic 'Piya Re,' as his special for fans on Valentine's Day 2023. The singer went down memory lane recalling how the day was celebrated in school and college, in a chat with mid-day.com.
What are your memories of Valentine's Day from school and college?
We used to gift things to friends, not just one person. So there was a lot of nervousness throughout the week-chocolate day, teddy day. If you liked someone your friends would pressurise you to approach that person, which was a different stress. Now I just hope my songs helps people to celebrate with their loved one.
How has the meaning of love changed for you over the years?

For me since day one, love means simplicity. Love is in the smaller things. When we fall in love everything seems beautiful, you even appreciate how the wind blows. Anyone doing the simplest of thing for you, that is love be it your wife girlfriend or family and friends. Unfortunately people start appreciating love only when people stop doing those simple things.
In my song, the boy sets off on a huge journey just to see the girl he loves.
Your Blue family always supports you, any gesture from them that took you by surprise?
Like I said, I appreciate the simplest things but the things they do for me are huge. They wait at the airport for hours just to see me and attend my concerts. We are doing 'Love Affair' my first India tour and there are specific areas where Blue family meets. They come with posters and I request them to keep them down or their hands will begin to ache. People say my songs have saved them and such things inspire me to make more music.
