Anil Kapoor has made to the list of TIME magazine's 100 Most Influential People in AI. Many wondered what the reason is behind him earning that spot and becoming the only Indian actor on the list

Turns out it is because of Delhi HC ruling in his favour last year when he made a plea objecting the unauthorised use of his voice, image and other personality attributes including his catchphrase 'Jhakaas'. Read detailed report here

Born to film producer Surinder Kapoor, he made his Bollywood debut with a small role in the romance Hamare Tumhare (1979) before starring in the Telugu film Vamsa Vruksham (1980) and Kannada film Pallavi Anupallavi (1983)

He emerged as a star with Mashaal (1984) and went on to establish himself with his roles in the action films Meri Jung (1985), Karma (1986), Mr. India (1987), Tezaab (1988), and Ram Lakhan (1989)

Kapoor was a boy who grew up in a film family settled in Mumbai's Chembur. From growing up on the streets of Chembur, the actor achieved international fame as well

Anil Kapoor is among the few Indian actors who have repeatedly featured in Hollywood projects. His first international project came with Danny Boyle's Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire where he played a game show host

He then starred in the eighth season of the  American action series '24' in 2010, long before working in long-form content was a thing in India. He also played the lead in the Television adaptation of 24 in India. The limited series concept was still pretty new back then

He also played a brief role in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011) alongside Tom Cruise

In 1988, he won his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film, Tezaab, the biggest blockbuster of 1988. He won his second Filmfare for Best actor in 1992 for Beta

In 2000, Kapoor won his first National Award for best actor for his nuanced performance in the film Bulandi 

Anil as producer-

In 2002 the actor turned to production with the film 'Badhaai Ho Badhaai'. He then went on to produce films like 'My Wife's Murder', 'Gandhi My Father', 'Aisha', 'Veere Di Wedding' and more 

With increasing age, Kapoor began to accept more matured roles that did justice to his stature. However, he continued to give the youth a run for their money as he began to make a conscious effort in maintaining his health and looking younger each day

In the last couple of years, Anil has gone from playing a business-minded patriarch in 'Dil Dhadakne Do' to an unfaithful, disrespectful husband in 'Jugjugg Jeeyo' to a soldier in 'Fighter'. Even after 40 years in the industry, the actor puts in efforts to not repeat himself on screen

On the personal front, Anil Kapoor is married to Sunita Kapoor and the couple has three kids- Sonam, Rhea and Harsh varrdhan. Anil is also grandfather to Sonam's son Vayu
