Charged with intrigue, the docu-series features Indrani Mukerjea, her children - Vidhie Mukherjea and Mikhail Bora - veteran journalists, and lawyers spotlighting dysfunctional family dynamics and complex motivations. Helmed by Shaana Levy and Uraaz Bahl, the show also reveals for the first-time ever unsettling call recordings between Indrani, Peter, and Rahul Mukerjea and unseen images of the family that are bound to keep audiences wondering about the truth.
In 2023, Indrani released her book, 'Unbroken', detailing a family gathering planned for August 25, 2015, to celebrate her birthday. However, her life took a drastic turn on that day as she left Anand Ashram and a civil-dressed cop from the Mumbai Police approached her, accusing her of the murder of her daughter, Sheena Bora.
In April 2012, a case was filed with the Mumbai Police alleging the kidnapping and murder of Sheena Bora. In 2015, the CBI took up the investigation. Indira was arrested and so was her husband, Peter Mukerjea, who has already been granted bail in 2020.
After the arrest of Indrani's driver, Shyamvar Rai, in another case in August 2015, he confessed to killing Sheena Bora in April 2012 and said that he dumped her body in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. He had also told Mumbai Police that Sheena's mother, Indrani, and Sanjeev Khanna were also involved in the murder.
In January 2022, Indrani Mukerjea submitted a hand-written application before a special court in Mumbai, claiming that Sheena, whom she is accused of killing, is alive. Indrani was granted bail by the Supreme Court in 2022 after being in jail for six-and-a-half years.
