The fifth edition of Banyan Tree's Splendor of Masters concert features different genres of vocal and instrumental music, ranging from Hindustani to Carnatic, Jazz, Rock and Sufi
Music aficionados can look forward to Splendor of Masters, which will celebrate diversity of music by bringing musicians from diverse genres together.
Sitar player Ustad Shujaat Khan
Started in 2009, this year the festival's line-up includes Ustad Shujaat Khan (sitar) with Prasanna (guitar), Phil Mathurano from New York (drums), Selvaganesh (kanjira), Abhishek Raghuram (vocals) and other percussionists.
Audiences will be treated to Hindustani, Carnatic and Sufi compositions as well as Jazz and Rock songs. The instrumental compositions feature the sitar, electronic and acoustic guitar, kanjeera, mridangam, tabla with Carnatic and Hindustani vocals.

The festival's theme is Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, referred to in the scriptures as a vision of the entire world as a family. "Music can truly illustrate this. At a time when man is getting more and more divided on various aspects, music can bring everyone together and bind everyone in a harmonious synergy. It can help collapse all differences. That is the vision behind the event: to bring varied streams, sound textures and instruments in a harmonious way to create diverse tunes for music lovers," says Mahesh Babu, the organiser of the event.

While earlier editions of the festival focussed on a particular genre, this particular edition combines them all.
