IN PHOTOS: States, union territories display culture and development through tableaux at Republic Day parade

The Republic Day parade that took place on Sunday at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, was a celebration of India’s culture, development and military prowess. Like every year, the tableaux of different states/union territories and ministries were an important part of the event. Sixteen states/union territories displayed their culture through these tableaux. Here are some glimpses.

Goa

Goa's tableau celebrated the state's pristine beaches and cultural heritage with depictions of Divja festival and Kaavi art. 

Uttarakhand

This tableau depicted the state's art forms and natural beauty, with special emphasis on adventure tourism. 

Haryana

Haryana's tableau paid tribute to Bhagawad Gita, in addition to showcasing the state's progress in different sectors. 

Jharkhand

The tableau of Jharkhand presented a view of the industrial units of Jamshedpur, and highlighted Ratan Tata's role in the development of the state.

Gujarat

From the 12th-century 'Kirti Toran' of Vadnagar (Anartpur) to the 21st century 'Statue of Unity', Gujarat's tableau presented a glimpse of the state's cultural heritage and contemporary achievements. (Pic: Youtube Video Screengrab/Narendra Modi)

Andhra Pradesh

Adorned with crafted wooden toys, the Andhra Pradesh tableau showcased the ancient art of Etikoppaka Bommalu. (Pic: Youtube Video Screengrab/Narendra Modi)

Punjab

This tableau offered a glimpse into the handicrafts and rich musical heritage of Punjab. The theme was 'Punjab as the land of knowledge and wisdom'.

Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh tableau celebrated Mahakumbh 2025, one of the biggest spiritual gatherings in the world. 

Bihar

The tableau of Bihar depicted Nalanda University, and showcased Buddhist heritage of the state. 

Madhya Pradesh

A glimpse of the reintroduction of Cheetahs at Kuno National Park was showcased in Madhya Pradesh's tableau. 

Tripura

The traditional 'Kharchi Puja' and the rituals attached to the worship of 14 deities were showcased in the Tripura tableau. 

Karnataka

Karnataka's tableau depicted the temples of Lakkundi, also called the 'cradle of stone craft'. 

Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu

This tableau followed the theme of 'Daman Aviary Bird Park and Kukri Memorial'. It highlighted the union territory's rich wildlife, fishing culture and developmental progress. (Pic: Youtube Video Screengrab/Narendra Modi)

Delhi

Delhi's tableau focused on progress in education, depicting the national capital as a hub of higher education, research and technology.

West Bengal

The tableau of West Bengal highlighted the ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ and ‘Lok Prasar Prakalpa’ schemes, aimed at fostering self-reliance in the state. 

Chandigarh

This tableau presented Chandigarh as a blend of heritage and innovation.
