A few weeks ago, we reviewed the Pocket, an app, which allows readers to save a link for future reading. This week we stumbled upon a very similar but much more impressive app that not only helps you save your favourite stories from the net, but also publish them in a magazine format. It's
called Flipboard.
The app curates stories, handpicked from popular newspapers, magazines and websites around the world based on your likes, as well as from posts shared by your online friends, circles, groups, followers and those you follow on social networking websites, including other Flipboard users.
Stories are presented in a magazine board layout where you get to flip to the next page or story, and hence, the name. Although, usage of the app may require a fast data connection (Wifi, 3G or higher), what scores high is the simplicity with which a story is presented to you.
Create your own magazine
Available for free download on both Google Play and iTunes Store, Flipboard also allows you to curate stories available on the Web, and posts from social networking websites and blogs, to create a personal magazine. You can share the magazine with other Flipboard users or with a group of friends or keep it private. What makes Flipboard special is that you needn't have to pay any subscription fee to access some of the best articles available online. Happy publishing and sharing.
