Tip-off
Constable Gulshilan Rangam received a tip-off that a gang of robbers was planning execute a dacoity on the highway and was supposed to meet at Balwadkar petrol pump in Wakad.u00a0He was also informed that robbers would be using motorcycles to execute the crime.u00a0
Quartet nabbed
Officials then laid a trap and arrested Kiran Sirsath (22), Rajesh Panikaran (32), Chikya Jadhav (20) and Umesh Gajdhane (23), but one of their accomplices, Babu, managed to escape. Official also seized two motorcycles - Apache (MH 14 CQ 2835) and Pulsar (MH 14 AR 1580) - and a few bags containing wooden sticks and sharp objects. u00a0Police Inspector Sunil Pawar and PSI Arun Surve led the operation.u00a0
Modus operandi
Officials said the gang had looted several trucks in the last one year and most of the robberies were committed during midnight.

They said the gang would overtake trucks on their vehicles and compel the driver stop the truck. They would then threaten its driver and cleaner by showing them sharp objects.
Police officials said all the four confessed to their crime and involvement in the 10 robberies they had executed in Haveli, Hinjewadi, Dehuroad, Talegaon and Wadgaon.
A case against the quartet was lodged at the Hijewadi police station.u00a0
