A protest by BJP's Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers outside Congress office in Mumbai on Thursday turned violent after some of the protesters allegedly vandalised the Congress office and the cops resorted to a lathicharge to disperse the crowds.
The protesters claimed that the Congress had always insulted Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
The BJYM workers, during the protests, were alleging that the Congress had insulted Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
The protest became violent, allegedly leading to clashes with the police.

The protesters gathered outside the Mumbai Congress office, demanding action against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
As the demonstration turned chaotic, the Mumbai Police used force to control the situation, resorting to a lathicharge to disperse the crowd.
The protesters allegedly vandalised the glasses on the doors of the Congress office near Azad Maidan in south Mumbai.
They allegedly stormed the Congress office and vandalised it, damaging furniture and tearing posters, police said. The workers also threw ink at posters of some Congress leaders. They shouted slogans against the Congress while entering that party's office.
"Several BJP workers were part of the protest. The police detained some of them and took them to the Azad Maidan police station. After the incident, the remaining protesters were dispersed, and the situation was brought under control," an official said.
Police detained a few BJYM workers and took them to the Azad Maidan police station, where they clashed with Congress workers.
An official said, "An FIR under sections 74, 118 (1), 189 (1)(c), (2), (3), 190, 191 (2), 192, 324(3), 333 of the BNS and section 135 of the BP Act was registered at Azad Maidan Police Station on the complaint of Mandar Pawar, Executive President Congress Bhavan against Tejinder Tiwana and 30-40 others of BJP. 14 people were detained on the spot of incident. Further investigation is going on."
The BJYM protest came after Congress leaders accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of insulting Dr Babsaheb Ambedkar during his speech in Rajya Sabha.
Congress MP from Mumbai, Varsha Gaikwad, slammed the BJP for the vandalism.
"This is what the BJP and Sangh Parivar have always done when they have heard Babasaheb's name - attack and vandalism. Look at the level BJP gundas are stooping to just to save Amit Shah and divert attention from the atrocious statement he made against Mahamanav, Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar," she posted on X.
