In a significant breakthrough, the Crime Branch Unit 9 of the Mumbai Police has successfully apprehended an alleged murderer linked to the tragic killing of a security guard. The incident had occurred on September 28 near Dilkhush Society on S.V Road, Santacruz (West) area of Mumbai, the police said on Sunday.
According to the police, the accused approached the location on that fateful day and allegedly used a paver block as a weapon to carry out the gruesome murder. The victim, identified as Rajeshkumar Shukla (35), succumbed to his injuries, and the Santacruz Police promptly registered a First Information Report (FIR) in this regard.
Senior Inspector Daya Nayak provided insights into the case, stating, "An unknown individual attacked the victim, striking him on the head with a paver block before fleeing the scene."
In pursuit of justice, the police initiated a meticulous investigation that involved scouring nearby CCTV footage. Unit 9 of the Crime Branch laid a strategic trap near King's Circle Railway Station, leading to the apprehension of the accused on September 30.

The suspect was identified as Jayshankar Mishra (48), who had traversed various locations across the city, including Dadar, after committing the heinous crime.
Senior Inspector Daya Nayak shed light on the motive behind the murder, explaining, "The deceased, Rajeshkumar Shukla, had purportedly promised Jayshankar Mishra a job and had accepted money from him. However, Shukla allegedly failed to honor his commitment, prompting Jayshankar Mishra to take matters into his own hands."
Jayshankar Mishra, a resident of Antop Hill currently unemployed, has been charged under Section 302 (Punishment for Murder). He has been handed over to the Santacruz Police Station for further investigation.
The swift and resolute action taken by the Crime Branch Unit 9 has brought hope for justice in this tragic case, assuring the community that those responsible for such heinous acts will be held accountable for their actions.
