A case has been registered against a 23-year-old Kalyan resident who allegedly attempted to strangle his wife to death over a petty argument.
On Friday, the police registered a case against Kushal Bajirao Jadhav for the incident.
According to the police official, the incident occurred in the Hajimalang Road area of Kalyan on October 16.
Sub-inspector G R Babad of Manpada police station said, "The accused, who was unemployed, frequently quarrelled with his 19-year-old wife, and on the day of the attack, he allegedly tried to hang her from a ceiling fan using a rope."

"The accused allegedly choked the woman multiple times before finally letting go of her," the official said.
"The woman was sent for medical examination, and the FIR was registered after the reports arrived," the police official said.
The police added that a manhunt has been launched for the absconding accused.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a 43-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a dog in Navi Mumbai.
According to the police, based on a complaint lodged by an activist, the Kopar Khairane police on Friday arrested Sanjay Kadam, a labourer, under section 377 of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
The police official said, "The incident occurred on the afternoon of September 28, when the accused was found sexually abusing a dog on the ground floor of a housing society, and the matter was brought to the notice of an activist."
