Khar student murder: Mukeem's killers wanted ransom, not

The Khar police investigating the murder of Mukeem Khan (17) by his friends Amir and Sarfaraz Shaikh have come to the conclusion that the two did not want the ransom to buy HSC exam papers.

"Amir and Sarfaraz lured Khan to the isolated site by convincing him that they would share the exam papers with him.

Both boys are from poor families.

They knew Mukeem's father was rich, and that he would not come to the spot, if they ask him to do so without a convincing reason.

It worked and they hammered him to death, hid his body and then asked for ransom," said Inspector B Mukhedkar of the Khar police station. Mukeem was killed on February 13.
