A 35-year-old social worker from Virar has been arrested red-handed by the Virar police for allegedly raping a mentally challenged woman in Sant Nagar area under the road bridge near D' Mart on Sunday night. According to the police sources, the accused identified as Praveen Sadanand Jadhav seduced the victim and took her to a deserted place on his bike where he assaulted her.

The incident came to light when a passerby saw the crime and alerted the police patrolling team about the incident. Following the tip, a team rushed to the spot and caught the accused rapping the 43-year old mentally challenged woman. During the interrogation, it was revealed that he was a social worker by profession and a resident of Vinayak Nagar in Nalasopara East.

The woman was mentally disturbed and lived on the street in Virar. The accused spotted the woman wandering in the area and lured her to sit on his bike so he could take her to an isolated spot. The Palghar district police PRO Hemant Katkar stated, considering the mental condition of the woman, a case has been registered against the accused under section 363 and 376 of IPC.

Zee TV producer died of drowning in Aarey pond, reveals primary report
The primary report on the cause of death of the senior producer at Zee TV, Sohan Chauhan on Sunday, has revealed drowning. His last rites were performed on Monday in the presence of his wife, brother and other relatives. The family has made no complaint, the police said. During the investigation, the cops from Aarey police station checked CCTV footage in which he was seen coming out of the lift around 3.45am on Sunday. He had a bottle of Thums Up in one hand.
