The city - sliced, diced and served with a dash of sauce
Farah Khan and Sharmila Thackeray browse through the trinkets at last evening's launch
The politics of style
They haven't taken after their fathers, in career at least, and their canvas includes a rainbow of shades unlike daddy's, who prefers white. Manali Jagtap, daughter to Congress MLC Bhai Jagtap, and Urvashi, Raj and Sharmila Thackeray's daughter, came together on Monday night to host a bevy of famous faces at Manali's eponymous Khar store. MVS (that's a mix of her and husband Vicky Shoor's initials), a line of jewellery marks the fashion designer's foray into luxury trinkets.

The idea, she says, is to marry the best of traditional with modern. "Designer pieces but not at designer rates," she laughs. This, she hopes to manage given the husband's long-standing diamond manufacturing business.
Sharmila was every bit the proud mother as Urvashi launched her debut prêt label, The Rack, at the evening. Seen among the guests were Farah Khan, Reema Lagoo, Sonali Kulkarni, Nitin Sardesai and Shaina NC.
Magic sounds
The stars seem to be descending upon us! Turns out international Hip-hop sensation Flo Rida will be at the Enchanted Valley Carnival scheduled to unfold in Aamby Valley this December. That's not all - British-Norwegian record producer Alan Walker of Faded fame will also be a part of the music festival.

The first phase of the line-up, which is already out, also features Arijit Singh, Papon, German Techno DJ Chris Liebing and Swedish DJ Jeremy Olander, among others. We can't wait.
Dubai's Jaan
After tantalising the taste buds of Mumbaikars with his signature offerings, Chef Farrokh Khambata is now looking westward. His new restaurant, Jaan at the Penthouse, launches today in downtown Dubai, but if you are thinking the Sheikhs are about to savour something similar to his European offerings at Amadeus or pan-Asian fare from Joss, think again. The menu at Jaan is Indian progressive. So, maybe in addition to our very own haldi, you will find condiments from Dubai's spice souk finding their way into the dishes.
Jaan's interiors
Patrons can also witness their dinner in the making at the restaurant's open kitchen, and choose to make their dining experience a communal one with a shared dining set-up. Thanks to all the wonderful food around, Dubai diners, we hear, are food critics in their own right. We hope Jaan passes the test.

Say cheers with the demon
While the city is burning his effigies to mark the victory of good over evil, we'd like to keep this Ravana for company. After all, he generously offers 10 shots, one on each head, promising a boozy night out.
An innovation by Thyme Bistro at Powai, the 10-headed Raavn shot (R999) includes multi-coloured shooters featuring gin, rum, jagermeister and tequila. It's served in a flaming dish representing Diwali sparklers. While Dussera celebrations may end tonight, this one offeringh continues till month-end.
Taking huge strides
It's been quite a journey for Striders since their inception in 2006. A close-knit family of like-minded health and fitness enthusiasts, they have grown over the last decade, and they are now ready to take things to the next level.
