Two unidentified vendors were run over by a Mumbai-bound express train near Palghar railway station on Thursday, police said. The incident occurred when the duo were sitting on railway tracks ahead of platform number 2 assuming that they will board a general compartment of Saurashtra-Jamnagar Express which slows down while being shifted to a siding on platform number 3, a GRP official said.
However, they were caught unaware when Mumbai-bound Surat-Bandra Inter City Express hit them.
"The bodies have been sent for postmortem," said GRP Inspector, Palghar, Pramod Babar. The deceased are yet to be identified.
