After registering over 400 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, the city saw a marginal drop for the second consecutive day on Friday with 374 new cases and single-digit fatalities. The city's test positivity rate (TPR) saw a marginal rise and was 1.37 per cent. The city reported the second wave's lowest TPR on July 16 at 1.26 per cent. After registering a TPR above 2 per cent last on June 27, the city had stayed within the limit. The doubling rate improved and was 1,209 days on Friday.
Of the eight deaths, two patients had comorbidities, five were in the age group of 60 years and above and three were in the 40-60 years age group. On June 8 and July 7, the city had reported single-digit Covid-19 fatalities in the second wave. The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 482 people recovered and were discharged on Friday.

The state's new Covid-19 cases saw a marginal drop at 6,753 and deaths saw a rise at 167 respectively on Friday. The state's fatality rate remained constant at 2.09 per cent as 5,979 patients recovered and were discharged. Currently, the state has 94,769 active cases.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) saw a marginal dip in new cases with 1,154 recorded on Friday, including the ones in Mumbai. Apart from Mumbai, Panvel with 136 and Raigad with 281 reported the maximum new cases in MMR.
Thane reported 40 new cases while Navi Mumbai saw 90 cases and Vasai-Virar reported 34 new cases each on Friday.
MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 32 fatalities. Raigad reported 20 deaths, the highest in MMR. The Thane Municipal Corporation reported four deaths. Ulhasnagar, Thane, Panvel and Palghar reported one death each.
