A screengrab of CCTV footage showing constable Dauda in action at Dadar station
An alert railway cop made the best use of his agility to save the life of a visually challenged traveller at Dadar station on Wednesday. The heroic act was captured by a CCTV camera on platform No. 5.
Senior officers from the Railway Protection Force said local resident Babu Gaikwad, 45, was trying to get into the Nagpur-bound Sewagram Express at the time of the mishap. He was headed for Nashik.
A man in a white shirt tried to help Gaikwad board the train, but it picked speed. The visually impaired passenger lost his balance and fell down. The scene prompted RPF constable Dilip Kumar Dauda to sprint to Gaikwad's help.
Later, Gaikwad said he wasn't aware the train had already started moving when he was being helped by a fellow passenger board it.
