The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted bail to former Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) CEO Partho Dasgupta, an accused in Television Rating Points (TRP) scam.
Dasgupta has been granted bail on a bond of Rs 2 lakh. He also has to submit his passport before the court and appear before the Crime Branch every month for a duration of 6 months.
Dasgupta had approached the HC after his bail plea was rejected by a Mumbai court in January this year.
The Mumbai Police had earlier informed the HC that Dasgupta had rigged the "entire" TRP system for news channels and also discussed issues of national security with "a certain owner cum news anchor" on Whatsapp.
