On the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid heartfelt floral tributes to the Sahibzades, the sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, at his official residence in Mumbai. 

In the Battle of Chamkaur, both the elder sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Sahibzada Ajit Singh and Sahibzada Jujhar Singh were killed in combat. This day, observed across the nation, commemorates the unparalleled sacrifice of the Sahibzades, who laid down their lives to uphold the principles of faith and righteousness.

The younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, displayed extraordinary courage. After being captured, the two young boys, aged just 9 and 6, were taken to the palace of Wazir Khan, the Mughal governor of Sirhind. Despite their tender age, they refused to renounce their faith or bow to the demands of the Mughal authorities.

Wazir Khan, enraged by their resilience, ordered them to be executed.

Guru Gobind Singh advocated for Dharamyudh (a righteous war), which was to be fought only as a last resort, driven not by revenge, greed, or destructive motives. For the Guru, one must be ready to die in order to stop tyranny, end persecution, and defend religious values.

CM Fadnavis attended the communal prayer and a pledge to uphold the values exemplified by the Sahibzades, ensuring their legacy remains a guiding light for future generations. He said, "For generations to come, we will continue to be inspired by Guru Gobind Singh ji and his two sons Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh. It is our responsibility to take the story of their martyrdom to our future generations. On this Shaheed Veer Bal Diwas, I bow to these two Sahibzadas and to the revered Guru Gobind Singh ji and his entire family."
