On Wednesday, Mumbai woke up to foggy skies, with the minimum temperature reaching to 20.3 degrees Celsius

According to the latest Mumbai weather updates from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai is expected to experience partly cloudy sky with haze in city and suburbs

As air pollution levels continue to rise in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has revised guidelines issued last year for construction sites

The civic body will also form squads at the ward level to visit construction sites and act if guidelines are flouted

Sensor-based air pollution monitoring systems will be installed at all construction project work sites and immediate action to be taken if pollution levels are detected above the limit

The BMC has stopped work at 191 construction sites across the city for failing to adhere to the civic body’s 28-point dust mitigation guidelines

According to an official from the municipal corporation’s environment department, since November 1, 2024, the BMC has visited around 1,038 construction sites and lapses were found at 856 spots, following which the civic body issued notices to those concerned along with orders to follow the guidelines
