Mumbai has been experiencing extreme heat for the past one month

The temperatures had touched 35 degrees Celsius in March, with the IMD issuing a heatwave warning for the city and its neighbouring areas

Earlier in the day, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and several other districts in Maharashtra, warning of hot and humid weather conditions over the next two days

Mumbai had recorded a temperature of 34.5 degrees Celsius. However, on Friday evening, the maximum temperature dropped to 33.7 degrees Celsius

In its latest update, the weather bureau has predicted partly cloudy sky with possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm for the city

The city and the suburbs are also likely to experience gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph in the next 24 hours, stated IMD in its latest forecast, issued at 8 pm

For the next 48 hours, the city is likely to witness partly cloudy skies. However, hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail in the suburbs, IMD said
