Delhi Metro services in the Vishwavidyalaya-Central Secretariat line were disrupted for about half-an-hour this morning after a woman allegedly attempted suicide by jumping in front of a train.
The 43-year-old woman, who was reportedly suffering from depression, jumped on the track just when a train was approaching the platform in Chandni Chowk station.
However, the driver immediately applied emergency brakes and stopped the train, officials said. The woman, who escaped unhurt, was rescued by the Metro staff, they said.
The incident took place at around 10.20 am, they said adding, train operations were affected on the underground line-2 (Central Secretariat to Vishwavidyalaya) for about 30 minutes. Normal operations resumed at 10.50 am.

The woman, a resident of Katra Leshwan area of Chandni Chowk, was believed to be suffering from depression, according to her husband who reached the station soon afterwards.
