Kejriwal, supporters detained near PM house

India Against Corruption (IAC) member Arvind Kejriwal and his supporters were detained yesterday while protesting against cabinet minister Salman Khurshid and his wife.

Police swooped down on them when they were protesting on the streets near Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's Race Course Road residence.

The IAC is demanding the minister's resignation after alleging that an NGO headed by him and run by his wife Louise was involved in financial bungling. Khurshid has denied the charge.

According to an IAC spokesperson, the prime minister refused to meet Kejriwal, who was taken away along with his supporters in buses by police. "We will remain in jail and we will not come out," thundered Kejriwal from inside a bus. While Kejriwal was taken to the Bawana police station in northwest Delhi, other protesters were driven to Parliament Street.
