The group that introduced Mumbai to bar crawls will now teach you how to make your own cocktails
After introducing Mumbai to bar crawls (where a bunch of like-minded strangers are ferried across bars in a particular suburb, with entry charges and alcohol being included in the sign-up fee), www.Bestofbombay.com now wants a bunch of Mumbaikars who don't know each other to bond over making cocktails. Bartending for Dummies is a lot different from the earlier concept, but the organisers say it's going to be as much fun as pub-hopping via an open-deck bus.
"I love cocktails but don't know how to make them," confesses Aditi Shah from Bestofbombay.com, telling us why she came up with the idea. "The city has seen a rise in the popularity of partying at home. It's always fun to whip up some interesting cocktails at your own party, so, this is where you can learn to do that," says Shah. Downing the outcome of your mixology session ensures it's going to be a heady night.
Unlike the bar crawls, the party bartending session will be a more intimate affair involving a group of 25 to 30.
"We wanted to do something different for the monsoon when it's messy going out partying,"
says Shah.
www.Bestofbombay.com ties up with Cocktails and Dreams, a bartending academy, to bring in experienced bartenders to teach you how to stir up a mean Martini before you and your just-made friends down it.
Participants will be taught five cocktails made from premium liquors. "We'll be making popular cocktails with ingredients that are easily available so that party-goers can remember the process and make their own stuff later," says Shah.
