The Supreme Court will on Wednesday hear a lawsuit asking the government to explain what steps were being taken to bring back over Rs 70 lakh crore (Rs 70 trillion) of Indian black money alleged to be stashed in foreign banks all over the world.
A bench of Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan on Tuesday decided to urgently hear the lawsuit after senior counsel Anil B Divan told the bench that a lawsuit for bringing back Indian money from foreign banks had been filed in the apex court registry.
Divan pleaded for urgent hearing of the matter.
The lawsuit has been filed by former law minister Ram Jethmalani, former Punjab police chief KPS Gill and some other former bureaucrats.
