The war of the remote, played out in households all over the country, took a fatal turn when a 16-year-old here committed suicide allegedly because she couldn't get the TV from her brother who was watching the IPL match, police said Wednesday.
Geeta was found hanging from the ceiling of her room late Tuesday, shortly after an argument with her 17-year-old brother Rahul, who was watching the T20 match between the Royal Challengers and Chennai Super Kings.
"The family told us that Rahul was watching an IPL (Indian Premier League) match when Geeta snatched the remote. She wanted to watch a serial on the Colors channel. There was a fight between the two and Geeta threw the remote on the ground. She then rushed to her room," a police official said.
Her parents broke open the door when she did not come out of her room for long and found her hanging from the ceiling, he added.
