A game of hide-and-seek landed two eight-year-old boys far from their home in Rabale and they ended up in Oshiwara, after they climbed aboard a truck to hide and the driver unknowingly drove all the way into the city with the stowaways. Their mischief put the truck driver in a difficult spot and gave the cops a long drive to Rabale, all of which happened in a span of six hours since their adventure began on Wednesday evening.

Upon opening the back of the truck in which he was transporting vegetables, Daya Shankar Yadav (45) found the two boys crying. Assuming that they may have been kidnapped, Yadav immediately took the duo to the Oshiwara police station.
He informed the officers that he had left Kanhiya Nagar in Thane at 6 pm on Wednesday and reached Oshiwara two hours later and discovered the stowaways. The officers from Oshiwara police station said that Yadav brought the kids to the station at 9 pm, and as a precaution he was detained till they cracked the case.
The police questioned the boys, identified as Sandeep Yadav and Rahul Pandey, residents of Kanhaiya Nagar in Rabale and learnt that they were playing a game of hide-and-seek with other kids in the locality, and decided to hide in the truck. While they were hidden, Yadav closed the shutter and the truck began moving.

Wasting no time, police officials left for Rabale with the children and Yadav, and reached at 3 am on Thursday, where they learnt that the parents of the boys had approached the local police station to file a missing person's complaint.
"We initially assumed that Yadav had kidnapped the boys and was cooking up a story to evade arrest, so we detained him on suspicion and began enquiring," said a police officer from the Oshiwara police station.
An officer said that based on the statements of the children, they began verifying the facts. They contacted the vegetable supplier in Rabale and also tried to locate a few eyewitnesses who saw the kids climb into the truck.
"The entire process took six hours, from when the truck reached the Oshiwara police station, till the boys were sent back home," said Dilip Rupawate, senior police inspector of the Oshiwara police station.
Yadav's nightmare ended after the boys were united with their parents and he was released immediately. u00a0
