An assistant registrar of Pali Sudhagad tehsil in Raigad district of Maharashtra was arrested for accepting Rs 20,000 bribe, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has said.
The official, Jitendra Waikar, was arrested on Friday, it said.
The complainant in the case wanted the registration process for a flat in Pali to be done. For that work, he met Waikar, who demanded Rs 24,000 from him. However, the amount of Rs 20,000 was later finalised, the ACB said in a statement.
After that, the complainant approached the anti-graft agency, which laid a trap and one Rajesh Rathod was caught accepting the bribe amount on behalf of Waikar, it said.
