In a heinous case, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by 400 men, including two policemen for over six months in Maharashtra's Beed district. The victim confirmed these gory details to the child welfare committee.
The girl's statement was recorded on November 12, days after a first information report (FIR) in the case had been registered with the police. However, according to sources, the victim was reluctant to file a complaint but after counselling, she recorded her statement.
As per a Times of India report, the cops have taken the minor girl's supplementary statement on record and a fresh probe has been initiated. They (police) are also suspecting a human trafficking angle and that the girl was forced into the flesh trade.
The investigating officer and additional superintendent of police Kavita Nerkar said, "The girl was rescued by an NGO and brought to us, following which an offence was registered on November 8. So far, six men have been arrested and a minor has been arrested and a minor boy has been detained and sent to a correctional home."

The minor in her recorded statement said that she got married at 13 but left her husband due to exploitation and differences. She was also molested by her father when she returned home and as a result of this, she left her home in May or June and had been staying in and around the Ambajogai bus stand from where she was rescued by the NGO volunteers.
The Beed police have registered a multitude of cases against the accused including that of rape, gang rape, molestation and voluntarily causing hurt, besides invoking sections of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
