President Droupadi Murmu offered condolences to the bereaved families of those who died in a boat accident in Madhya Pradesh's Sheopur district on Saturday.
"The news of the death of many people including children in a boat accident in the Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh is extremely sad. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured," the President said in a post on 'X'. At least seven people died as a boat capsized in the Seep River in Madhya Pradesh's Sheopur. The seven deceased included five children, police said adding that the boat was ferrying a total of eleven people.
"A tragic incident took place in Seep in Manipur police station area. A boat capsized in the river. There were 11 people in the boat, out of which 4 people were safe. The bodies of seven people have been recovered, and have been brought to the district hospital where doctors have declared them dead. Out of the seven people, there are two adults and five children...," Superintendent of Police Abhishek Anand said.
Earlier last month, a fisherman died after the fishing vessel he was travelling in capsized in Muthalapozhi in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram. The deceased, identified as Abraham hailed from Attingal municipality and his boat capsized while returning to shore in the Muthalapozhi harbour area. The boat was ferrying a total of four people at the time of the incident. Three of them were rescued by local authorities.
