Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday assumed office as the Union Home Minister after taking oath on Sunday along side PM Narendra Modi.

Before taking charge of the ministry, Shah visited the National Police Memorial in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. He paid tribute to the policemen who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

During his previous tenure, Shah played a crucial role in significant policy changes, including the abrogation of Article 370 and the enactment of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

In addition to his role as Union Home Minister, Shah has retained his portfolio in the Ministry of Cooperation.

Meanwhile, BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda alias JP Nadda assumed the charges of the Union Health Minister after he was sworn-in at the Rashtrapati Bhavan ceremony alongside Modi and Shah.

In addition, he was allocated the Chemicals and Fertilizers Ministry on Monday, a day after taking oath as a cabinet minister.

Nadda, whose term as BJP President will end in June, held the health portfolio during the Modi government's first term.

The 63-year-old BJP leader, who holds a law degree, started his political adventure with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the students' branch of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
