BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chaudhary, the chief guest, emphasised that the marathon is a key initiative towards raising health awareness among the country’s youth. The marathon, which began in 2022, is organised annually under the Athletics Federation of India and continues to grow in scale and popularity.

Over 5,200 runners, including both national and international professional athletes, participated in this year’s event. The participation of youth from the six border districts of Punjab further highlights the significance and success of this initiative.
To encourage female participation in sports, BSF offered free registration for women across all race categories. The marathon took place along a scenic and historic route from the Golden Gate in Amritsar to JCP Attari.
Winners in different age categories for men and women received cash prizes, with Rs 1.5 lakh awarded for the full marathon, Rs 75,000 for the half marathon, and Rs 40,000 for the 10 km race. The event featured three major race categories: Full Marathon (42.195 km), Half Marathon (21.097 km), and 10 km race, providing opportunities for both professional and amateur runners.

Beyond being a sporting event, the marathon embodies fitness, sportsmanship, and patriotism while aligning with the 'Fit India Movement' and 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan'. The BSF remains committed to channelling youth energy towards positive and constructive activities, reinforcing the importance of sports and well-being.
