The initial response team from the 32 Assam Rifles Pathfinder Unit reached the site of the disaster at 6:30 AM to begin the initial assessment and coordinate the rescue efforts. Recognising the complexity of the situation, the Army dispatched an Engineer Task Force (ETF) under the Commanding Officer of an Engineer Regiment to provide critical support.
The ETF, along with PARA diving specialists, is currently en route to the site, equipped to deal with the challenges of the flooded mine. Additional teams from the Assam Rifles and the ETF are also heading towards the mine to reinforce the ongoing rescue operations.
The Army has deployed aerial resources to provide an enhanced operational overview of the situation. A helicopter carrying senior officials, including the Chief Engineer of the Dimapur Corps HQ, is conducting an aerial reconnaissance mission to guide further operations.
Despite the mine's remote location and lack of infrastructure, all efforts are being made to expedite the rescue and ensure the miners’ safety. The Assam State Administration formally requested the Indian Army’s assistance, and the Home Secretary of Assam forwarded the requisition.

This response follows an earlier mobilisation of a relief task force to rescue miners trapped at the Umrangshu coal mine in Dima Hasao. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma personally sought the Indian Army’s help in the ongoing rescue operations.
