Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has been invited to India as a chief guest for the Republic Day celebrations on January 26. Prabowo Subianto met with President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the courtyard of Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 25. President Prabowo Subianto was also accorded with ceremonial Guard of Honour. On the occasion, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said, "... Indonesia considers India a very good friend. India was the first country to recognise our independence, supported us in our struggle for independence, we will never forget what India did to help us. I feel very honoured today... I feel doubly honoured because tomorrow I will be the chief guest at your Republic Day parade... I am committed to fostering closer cooperation, closer partnership with India. This is my firm resolve.”
