lines of minority and majority communities".u00a0 What's ridiculous is that these statements were made in Gujarat, a state that was almost in ruins after the Godhra riots.u00a0u00a0
There is extreme polarisation of communities in Gujarat and the divide is only getting wider. BJP's hate politics is not going to help in restoring communal harmony in the state. Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has succeeded in hammering a permanent wedge between Hindus and Muslims. In the words of UN special rapporteur on human rights, Gujarat Muslims live in the fear of violence against them. Seven years after the Godhra riots, those internally displaced are terrorised into remaining away from their homes.
There is some ray of hope of peace for minorities in this state, thanks to the efforts of the Special Investigating Team, which is working hard to overcome the communal roadblocks placed bythe BJP in the state.u00a0
