Prince Harry and Meghan Markel, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have named their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Putting all the speculations about the baby's name to rest, the royal couple, who embraced parenthood on May 6, 2019, shared the name on their official Instagram account

With a bright smile on his face, Prince Harry held little Archie, who was wrapped in a white blanket, close to his chest. "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor," the Instagram caption read

The announcement came with a photo in which their son can be seen meeting his paternal great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, and maternal grandmother Doria Ragland, on May 8, 2019

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently introduced their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor to the world but unlike all his famous cousins, the baby doesn't sport a royal title. Meghan Markle said: "He has the sweetest temperament, he's really calm. He's been the dream." As they laughed, Prince Harry said: "I don't know who he gets that from." 

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have chosen not to use a title for the newborn Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. "He will not be styled as Earl of Dumbarton but Master Archie M-W," royal historian Marlene Koenig. "But I am not surprised as Harry and Meghan want a 'normal' life for their kids," Koenig added

Royal commentator Victoria Arbiter stated that while many expected the baby to become a prince due to his father's title, he actually wasn't eligible for it, reported Fox News. "In this instance, the baby wasn't eligible for a princely title due to the 1917 Letters Patent," Arbiter explained

As the first born son of a duke, Archie could have become Earl of Dumbarton - one of Harry's subsidiary titles - or have been Lord Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, but instead he will simply be Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor

Archie's cousins, Princes George and Louis, as well as Princess Charlotte, were given titles of prince and princess because they are the children of Prince William. William is the son of Charles, the Prince of Wales, also known as the heir to the throne.

Therefore, the only way Prince Harry could receive a title for his son is if his paternal great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, steps in. She can issue an order to give the baby boy and his future siblings the title of prince or princess

Talking about their first few days as parents, Meghan said: "It's magic, it's pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world so I'm really happy." The duke added: "It's great. Parenting is amazing. "It's only been two and a half days, three days, but we're just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy."

On which parent the baby resembled more, Prince Harry said: "Everyone says that babies change so much over two weeks. "We're basically monitoring how the changing process happens over this next month really. But his looks are changing every single day, so who knows." Later, asked to show more of their son's face to the cameras, Meghan laughed as Harry joked: "He's already got a little bit of facial hair as well, wonderful." Meghan added: "Thank you everybody for all the well-wishes and kindness, it just means so much."
