Jiah Khan: She tragically committed suicide at the young age 25 last year. She made her debut in the controversial 2007 film 'Nishabd' co-starring with Amitabh Bachchan. She starred opposite Aamir Khan in 2008's 'Ghajini'. Jiah made her final screen appearance in the 2010 hit comedy . The actress's mother apparently felt she was depressed after some failed auditions down south

Adolf Hitler: To avoid arrest, the German Nazi dictator committed suicide by gunshot in 1945 during World War II

Guru Dutt: The legendary director, producer and actor was found dead in his apartment in Mumbai. The cause of death deemed was a combination of alcohol and sleeping pills. Although unclear whether it was a suicide or accidental death, Dutt had attempted suicide before.

Robin Williams: The Hollywood star was found dead on August 11 in his home in California. According to his publicist, Williams had been battling severe depression' in the period before his death. Williams starred in numerous Hollywood films, including Good Morning, Vietnam', Dead Poets Society', Jumanji', Mrs. Doubtfire' and Good Will Hunting', winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for the latter in 1997.

Marilyn Monroe: The American actress, who became a sex symbol following a number of successful films in the 50s and early 60s, gave in to persistent illness and personal problems. She died of drug overdose in 1962, at the age of 36

Ernest Hemingway: Noble prize-winning author and journalist from the United States of America shot himself to death in 1961

Manmohan Desai: Famous producer and director of Bollywood films committed suicide by jumping from a building in Mumbai in 1994

Kurt Cobain: The American singer-songwriter who was the lead singer of the popular band Nirvana, committed suicide by shooting himself on the head with a shotgun at the age of 27

Peter Roebuck: The former English cricketer and renowned journalist, commentator committed suicide after the police questioned him about a sexual assault case.

Tony Scott: The noted Hollywood director, who directed films like Top Gun and Enemy of the State, jumped to his death from a bridge in Los Angeles on 19 August 2012.
