Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has emphasised the importance of domestic players in the Indian Premier League, saying a side's good show in the event depends largely on how well the home-grown talent performs.
"I think one really needs good domestic bowlers in the team. I firmly believe it all depends upon how good are the domestic players in your side. I think a side which has better domestic cricketers has got a upper hand," he said.
"I think out of four foreign players only one or two or maybe three will perform at a given time so still the majority is with the Indian players," he was quoted as saying by the official IPL website.
"If you are playing with a strong batting side you rely on your foreign players most of whom are batters," he added.

On part-timers' success, Dhoni said only those who have international experience have done well.
"They have less to lose. When they are brought into attack there is less pressure. I think the batsmen are under more pressure when the part-timers are bowling. But then one should not forget that those successful are actually not part-timers they have been successful in international cricket as well. They have fair amount of ideas when it comes on to Twenty20 cricket," he said.
