Riding on skipper Priyanka Kamble's solitary goal, St Joseph's High School (Malad) beat Hiranandani Foundation (Powai) in their Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) girl's under-16 Division I football match at Azad Maidan yesterday

Priyanka's coach Arthur Pereira claimed the 15-year-old is an all-rounder.

"She is a brilliant student, a head girl in school, good at athletics (100m, 200m and 400m), the school's hockey captain and a good footballer," said Pereira.

Priyanka though credited her success to her mother, Priya. "I lost my father (Pradeep) in 2010 due to jaundice. Since then my mother has been my lifeline. My relatives have asked her (my mother) to stop me from playing. It's her confidence in me that inspires me to do well," said the Malad resident.

The striker scored the only goal of the match in the 28th minute via a brilliant solo effort.

Meanwhile the U-16 Ahmed Sailor knockout tournament scheduled to start on September 2 has now been rescheduled for a September 10 start.u00a0
