After a lackluster performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India will look to recover in the 2025 Champions Trophy. While the tournament will be held in Pakistan, India will play its matches in Dubai. If India advances to the second round, both the semi-finals and final will be contested at a neutral venue. Shikhar Dhawan was the highest run-scorer for India in the 2017 Champions Trophy with 338 runs in five matches. He also featured in the 2019 World Cup but lost his spot in 2023. Dhawan announced his retirement in August 2024, missing out on the 2023 World Cup squad

Kedar Jadhav, a key figure in India’s 2017 Champions Trophy campaign, also played in the 2019 World Cup. However, he lost his place in 2020 and officially retired in June 2024. Jadhav featured in 73 ODIs and 9 T20Is during his career

Karthik wasn't part of the original 2017 Champions Trophy squad but was called in as a replacement for the injured Manish Pandey. He also played in the 2019 World Cup and the 2022 T20 World Cup. After the T20 WC, he was dropped and retired following IPL 2024. He is now set to make his debut in the SA20 league

Yuvraj's brief return to international cricket in 2017 lasted only seven months. After being dropped post-West Indies series, he failed the yo-yo test but cleared it later. However, he was never recalled. Yuvraj retired from international cricket in June 2019

In December 2024, Ashwin stunned fans by retiring after India's third Test against Australia. The experienced spinner, who played one Test in the 2017 Champions Trophy, became a peripheral figure in white-ball cricket post-2017 and was absent from the 2019 World Cup

Arguably the most prominent name to retire, Dhoni announced his retirement on August 15, 2020. His final international appearance came during the 2019 World Cup. As captain, he led India to the 2013 Champions Trophy title, before playing under Virat Kohli in 2017
