AB de Villiers: The Proteas hard-hitter reached his century in just 31 balls during his 44-ball knock of 149 against West Indies. He hit 16 sixes equaling Rohit Sharma's record and 9 fours during his innings. He also broke Sanath Jayasuriya's 18-year old record by hitting the fastest fifty in 16 balls

Corey Anderson: In 2014, against the West Indies, Kiwi batsman Corey Anderson struck his hundred off 35 balls breaking an 18-year old record. He hit 14 sixes and 6 boundaries during his unbeaten 131

Shaid Afridi: Before Corey Anderson, Shahid Afridi held the record for 17 years since 1996. He had scored his ton against Sri Lanka in 1996 off just 37 balls. Playing just his 2nd ODI match, Afridi scored 102 quick-fire runs

Mark Boucher: Batting at no.4, South African wicket-keeper Mark Boucher reached his hundred in just 44 balls, which included 26 runs off a Justice Chibhabha over

Brian Lara: The Caribbean star hit only 4 sixes during his 45-ball hundred, showing that brute force is not a necessity all the time to demolish the opposition

Shahid Afridi: Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi destroyed the Indian bowlers, hitting as many as ten fours and nine sixes at an incredible strike-rate of 222

Jesse Ryder: New Zealand opener Jesse Ryder faced only 46 deliveries to reach his ton. But being in the same match as Corey Anderson's century was overshadowed. Ryder and Anderson put on 191 for the fourth wicket as they hammered the West Indies attack. Ryder faced 51 balls for his 104 which included five sixes

Jos Buttler: He became the fastest England cricketer to hit a century during an ODI against Pakistan. Buttler hit his hundred in 46 deliveries. He also holds the second quickest century by an England batsman

Sanath Jayasuriya: Sri Lankan all-rounder Sanath Jayasuriya hit 11 fours and 11 sixes in his 48-ball century. He ultimately scored 134 runs off 65 balls setting the Pakistanis a target of 350 to chase in Singapore

Kevin O'Brien: The Irish batsman created history when he hit the fastest ton at a World Cup in just 50 balls during Ireland's tie against England. The Irishman thus broke Australian opener Matthew Hayden's World Cup record of a hundred off 66 balls. The record was later broken by Glenn Maxwell at the 2015 World Cup

Glenn Maxwell: Aussie batsman Glenn Maxwell hit the second fastest century at a World Cup during the 2015 match against Sri Lanka. He achieved the feat in 51 balls

Virat Kohli: Virat Kohli scored the fastest century by an Indian off just 52 balls in the second ODI against Australia in Jaipur. He then went on to hit the third fastest ton in 61 balls in the sixth ODI

Shahid Afridi: The third of Shahid Afridi's hundreds in the top 10, the all-rounder was the captain of the Pakistan team for this one. The 53-ball ton meant Afridi had scored a super-fast century against all top Asian sides - Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh
