Mahashivratri 2025: Know why this big day is observed with deep devotion

Mahashivratri 2025: Know why this big day is observed with deep devotion

Mahashivratri is one of the most sacred nights in Hinduism, symbolizing transformation, spiritual awakening, and the grace of Lord Shiva—the Adi Guru, the first teacher of yoga. This year, Mahashivratri will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 26, with the most powerful time for worship—Nishita Kaal Puja—taking place from 12:09 am to 12:59 am on February 27. This one hour is believed to bring the greatest blessings. Devotees around the world gather to offer milk, honey, water, and fresh flowers to the Shivling, a symbol of Lord Shiva, representing purity and reverence. One key tradition is staying awake throughout the night—a vow of vigil—to remove darkness and awaken to inner truth. Devotees chant the powerful mantra `Om Namah Shivaya`, purifying the mind, body, and soul. Meditation and prayer are common practices, focusing on spiritual growth and divine blessings. According to ancient scriptures, Mahashivratri is not just about rituals, but about connecting with the cosmic energy of Lord Shiva. It’s believed that on this night, Lord Shiva performed a divine dance that represents the cycles of creation, preservation, and destruction—the fundamental processes of the universe. This dance is a reminder of the constant cycles of change in our own lives.... [Read More]

Eknath Shinde Threatened with Bomb Attack, Police Increase Security

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has received a bomb threat, with an anonymous person warning of a potential attack on his vehicle. The threat, which was sent via email, was directed to several locations including the Goregaon Police Station, the Mantralaya (state secretariat), and JJ Marg Police Station. The email claims that a bomb could be planted on Shinde’s vehicle, raising concerns about his safety. Although early investigations suggest the threat may be a hoax, authorities are not taking any chances. The Mumbai Police`s cyber cell and intelligence teams are working to trace the email`s origin and identify the sender. In response, security around Eknath Shinde has been increased, with extra police presence and surveillance measures put in place. Authorities have reassured the public that a full investigation is ongoing to determine the authenticity of the threat. The Mumbai Police have asked citizens to stay alert and report any suspicious activity as they continue their search for the person responsible. This is not the first time Eknath Shinde has recieved any death threat. In 2023, an anonymous caller contacted the Maharashtra police control room, threatening to "blow up Eknath Shinde" before abruptly hanging up. Additionally, a 19-year-old student from Pune was arrested by the Mumbai crime branch last year for issuing death threats to both Shinde and his son, MP Shrikant Shinde, through social media.... Rekha Gupta appointed as new Delhi CM, All you need to know about her

Rekha Gupta, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Shalimar Bagh, has been appointed as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. She was elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party during a meeting of newly-elected BJP MLAs on Wednesday. Following the meeting, Gupta is set to take the oath of office on Thursday at Ramlila Maidan. Gupta’s election marks a historic moment for the BJP, as the party will form a government in Delhi after 27 years. The BJP won 48 seats in the recent Delhi Assembly elections, ousting the Aam Aadmi Party from power. Gupta, a first-time MLA, will become the fourth woman to hold the office of Chief Minister in Delhi. She will also be the only woman CM of a BJP-ruled state or Union Territory at present. Born in Nandgarh village, Haryana, Gupta moved to Delhi with her family at the age of two. Her father worked for the State Bank of India. Gupta began her political journey in 1993 when she joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the students’ organization affiliated with the RSS. She later became the general secretary of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) from 1995 to 1996, and its president from 1996 to 1997. In 2002, Gupta joined the BJP and quickly rose through the ranks. She became the secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Delhi and was later promoted to the national secretary of BJYM, holding the position until 2005. Gupta also served as the general secretary of the Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha, the national vice-chairperson of the BJP Mahila Morcha, and the national in-charge of the Uttar Pradesh Mahila Morcha. She has been a member of the BJP National Executive. Gupta holds a degree in commerce and a Master’s degree in management and arts from the University of Delhi.
