Weddings can be a lavish and expensive affair. While one might want to keep it larger-than-life, others prefer minimalistic and environment-friendly. Bollywood celebs, who can spend the big bucks for their big day, here are some who steered away from excessive expenditure and took the economic and simple route, setting the minimal trend.

Yami Gautam-Aditya Dhar

Yami Gautam married filmmaker Aditya Dhar in June 2021. The two have worked together on the hit film 'Uri: The Surgical Strike'. The actress opted for a low-key wedding in her hometown Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. “We don’t like wastage of food and never wanted a DJ wedding. We are both traditional, we did our rituals which we loved. We played traditional Pahadi and Kashmiri songs, Punjabi folk tracks… There were just 20 people but it was really memorable,” she told PTI. Interestingly, Yami’s wedding saree belonged to her mother. Her makeup and hair were also done at home with the help of her sister.

Dia Mirza-Vaibhav Rekhi

Dia Mirza married Vaibhav Rekhi in February 2021. She shared that the ceremony was conducted using completely biodegradable and natural material. "The garden where I have spent every morning for the past 19 years was an absolutely magical setting and the most intimate and perfect space for our simple and soulful ceremony! We are so proud to have been able to organise a completely sustainable ceremony without plastics or any waste. The materials used for the minimal decor we went for were completely biodegradable and natural," she wrote on Instagram. Instead of a heavy lehenga, Dia wore a simple red saree by Raw Mango.

Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt

After 5 years of dating, star couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt tied the knot in April 2022. The actors who fell in love on the sets of their upcoming film 'Brahmastra' got hitched in an intimate wedding ceremony held at Ranbir's Mumbai abode Vastu located in Bandra. Apart from the couple's family members, the intimate wedding affair was attended by the duo's close friends including filmmaker Karan Johar, Ayan Mukerji, and Alia's best friend Akanksha Ranjan. Akash Ambani and his wife Shloka Ambani also attended the duo's wedding. After exchanging the nuptials, the two, who were dressed in shimmery Sabyasachi outfits cut their 3-tier wedding cake and raised a toast to the new beginnings.

Varun Dhawan-Natasha Dalal

Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan married his long-time fashion designer girlfriend Natasha Dalal in January 2021. The wedding was a private affair that took place at Alibaug's Mansion House Resort and included only the family members and close friends of the couple. Some of the celebrities who were a part of the closely-knit wedding ceremonies are fashion designer Manish Malhotra and filmmaker Karan Johar. The couple reportedly knew each other since their school days. The two fell in love when they met at a music concert years later.

Rhea Kapoor-Karan Boolani

Producer Rhea Kapoor tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend Karan Boolani in August 2021. Rhea fell in love with Karan Boolani while they were on the film sets, shooting for 'Aisha', and have been going strong ever since. Their wedding was held at her father and veteran actor Anil Kapoor’s Mumbai residence. Only family members and close friends attended it.
